Healing at 99 — Dr. Michelle Largent

Healing at 99

Think about this concept for a moment:

Your body is designed to REgenerate, not DEgenerate.

I don’t know about you…

but most of what I hear in our society is you get older and things just start declining (aka degenerating).  As if, once a body part or function starts declining (or not working as well) we just succumb to the notion, “that’s just the way it is.”

Sometimes I think we say that because we don’t know what’s possible – we don’t know we can heal.  Sometimes I think we say that because we give up hope that we can get better.

Here’s how to test your belief:

Next time you feel that internal ‘creak’ or ‘squeak’ I challenge you to catch your next thought – it will tell you what you believe about REgeneration vs DEgeneration.  If you don’t like what you heard… it doesn’t have to be “that” way.

You can be intentional about your outcome.

You can absolutely change what you believe, then do things (actions) to support your new thoughts and beliefs, and you will have a different outcome than that original thought which popped into your head.

Let me share about Langley

Langley is 99 in dog-years (or 14.25 in human years)….so she’s OLD 😉

What was happening: In December she started shedding like CRAZY.  I’d just touch her and my hand was covered with dog hair.  If I petted her from head to tail – just one pass – a whole tuft of hair had accumulated.  It was nuts and there was lots of dog hair EVERYWHERE.

My thought (and Brent’s): Holy crap, at this rate she’s going to go bald!

Reframe our thoughts:  Her body can heal, we just need to find out why this is happening and take action.

Action steps:

  • Investigation – there’s got to be something going on.  We put a flea collar on her in September as a precaution following an incident in MT.  Maybe the medication from the collar was causing her to lose her hair?

  • Action – remove the collar.

BUT that didn’t solve the problem. Her hair continued to fall out.  I started to get concerned.

Continue to reframe thoughts: We know her body can heal, we just need to take more action.

More action steps: Added a nutritional doggie supplement to help support the skin.  And TIME.  All healing takes time.

Outcome: About 3 weeks ago we realized her excessive shedding had stopped. Woohoo!

Langley’s body and skin healed.  She REgenerated healthy skin, even at 99 dog-years old!

Your body is designed to REgenerate, not DEgenerate.

The takeaway is the same as where we started.

It’s ok to be intentional about the outcome you want.

It’s ok believe in yourself and your ability to heal

In fact, belief and intention are more powerful than anyone’s ever told you.

And most importantly, you deserve it.

With love and inspiration,

Dr. Michelle
